Nook Tablet rumoured for November launch

Barnes & Noble's Nook Tablet e-reader has been rumoured for release later this month.

Leaked documents obtained by Engadget appear to confirm that the Kindle Fire rival will hit stores on November 16.

The new Nook Tablet will be Wi-Fi ready with a 7-inch VividView IPS colour touch panel and a 1.2GHz dual-core OMAP4 processor. It boasts a screen resolution of 1,024x600, and features 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and microSD expansion support.

Barnes & Noble has a strong rivalry with Kindle platform holder Amazon. When its competitor announced a partnership with DC Comics, the book seller responded by withdrawing the publisher's graphic novels from its stores.

The Nook Tablet will retail at $249 (£155). Its predecessor, the Nook Colour, will have its price reduced to $199 (£124). Its rumoured launch date would see it arrive on the market one day after the Kindle Fire's US debut.

Barnes & Noble is expected to officially unveil the device at a New York press event on Monday.
