Opera Software has introduced a data usage tracker to its mobile browsers.
The feature will enable contract users to monitor how close they are to their monthly data cap to avoid incurring additional network charges.
Opera has incorporated the update into its Opera Mini 6.5 for iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Symbian S60 and Java-enabled phones, and its Opera Mobile 11.5 on Symbian S60, bringing them in line with the firm's Android browsers.
"The data counter instantly shows people how much they have saved," explained Opera's product manager for mobile Phillip Grønvold.
Android's mobile internet software Browser recently overtook Opera Mini in terms of usage figures. However, both platforms have fallen behind Safari, which holds a 62.2 percent share of the market, according to Engadget.
Opera Mini 6.5 and Opera Mobile 11.5 are available to download now.
